Persimmon Homes supports the next generation of construction talent
East Midlands CTEC is proud to highlight the growing relationship between education and industry, with Persimmon Homes donating 8,712 bricks to support the training of the next generation of construction professionals at Derby College Group.
Persimmon Homes approached Derby College as part of its commitment to supporting the next generation of construction workers and the institutions that provide the skills and training needed across the sector.
The donation of 22 packs – 8,712 bricks – from Persimmon Homes’ brick factory in Harworth, South Yorkshire will be used by students studying brickwork at the Hudson Building, part of Derby College’s Roundhouse campus.
Having access to real industry materials gives students the opportunity to develop their practical skills in a realistic learning environment, helping them prepare for careers across the construction industry.
The partnership also provides an opportunity for students to engage directly with industry. Persimmon Homes is planning a visit to the college to see the bricks being used by students and meet those training for their future careers in construction.
Building stronger connections between education and industry.
At CTEC, we believe strong relationships between education and industry are essential to developing the skilled workforce the construction sector needs. Partnerships like this provide tangible support for students while creating opportunities for employers to connect with emerging talent, share industry knowledge and help shape the skills of tomorrow’s workforce.
We would like to thank Persimmon Homes for its generous donation and continued support for construction education.
